This roadmap has been designed through a participatory process to enhance coordination in addressing and managing transboundary climate risks in Africa.

The declaration calls on governments to "support and take an active people-centred role to ensure all citizens in SADC are covered by effective Early Warning and Early Action system initiatives.

This is the Nairobi Declaration on accelerating the path to achieving the goals and targets of the Programme of Action for the Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 in Africa. 

This 2017 Programme of Action (PoA) for the Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 in Africa posits a great opportunity to contribute to building resilient African communities.

The aim of the Strategy is to contribute to the attainment of sustainable development and poverty eradication by facilitating the integration of disaster risk reduction into development.
