The Windhoek declaration sets the direction for the next three years, reinforcing Africa's commitment to reducing disaster risks and building resilience across the continent.

This roadmap has been designed through a participatory process to enhance coordination in addressing and managing transboundary climate risks in Africa.

The declaration calls on governments to "support and take an active people-centred role to ensure all citizens in SADC are covered by effective Early Warning and Early Action system initiatives.

This is the Nairobi Declaration on accelerating the path to achieving the goals and targets of the Programme of Action for the Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 in Africa. 

The plan is designed to enhance regional capacities for gender-responsive disaster risk prevention, management and coordination in support of humanitarian assistance.

The ECOWAS Disaster Risk Reduction Gender Strategy and Action Plan plays a crucial role in supporting member states in building resilience to natural hazards in an inclusive manner.
