Short-term Certified Professional Training in Disaster Risk
Introduction
Disaster managers today are demanded to plan and implement evidence-based disaster risk management and risk reduction measures for building resilience of their communities and countries for sustainable development.
Intended Audience
This short-term Certified Professional Training (CPT) is administered under the Master of Disaster Risk Management (MDRM) program initiated by Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in Kuala Lumpur for working students or anyone interested in building their knowledge and skills in a particular DRM issue.

Characteristic of CPT program
This programme is supported by the DRM sub-committee of the Japanese University Consortium (JUC) that includes lectures by prominent DRM experts from Tsukuba University, Kyoto University, Kyushu University, Yamaguchi University, Shibaura Institute of Technology, Kanazawa University, National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention (NIED), International Centre for Water Hazard and Risk Management (ICHARM) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Course Options
Depending on time availability, CPT students have options to take full course (2 weeks per course) or to attend lecture sessions given by Japanese lecturers (2-3 days). Students who complete the full course will get 3 credits that can be accumulated over a period of 3 years to pursue a Master degree. Students who attend the 2-3 days session will be certified for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
How to Register
Applications are accepted throughout the year, but dependent on the course schedule above. Registration for professional courses are open throughout the year, but offered as according to MDRM programme schedule of core courses and elective courses.

Fees
Fees are RM 2,500 per full course (2 weeks) and RM 1,300 per 2-3 days session by Japanese lecturers.
