The German Committee for Disaster Reduction (DKKV) is the national platform for disaster reduction in Germany. As a competence center, the DKKV is available for all questions of national and international disaster risk reduction and also acts as an intermediary in the field of crisis and disaster risk reduction.

Since 2018, the DKKV has been awarding the annual “DKKV Promotional Award” to recognize current research and best practice examples related to disaster risk reduction and disaster risk management. The prize is aimed at German and English-language Bachelor's and Master's theses and is awarded to both the best Bachelor's thesis and the best Master's thesis. These are awarded with prize money of €500 (Bachelor) and €1,000 (Master) as well as a two-year membership as a Young Professional in the DKKV.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that the call for entries for this year's Promotional award is now open! Interested parties can submit their theses until 14th of June 2024. Further information can be found in the announcement document, which is attached below.

Please send all required documents and any questions by e-mail to: foerderpreis@dkkv.org. If you have any questions about applying for the DKKV Promotional Award, please contact lina.mueller@dkkv.org
