Convention on the transboundary effects of industrial accidents
This Convention, written in English, French, and Russian, establishes agreement between signing parties about prevention, preparedness, and response related to industrial accidents capable of causing transboundary effects, including effects caused by natural disasters. The Convention also contains provisions outlining mutual assistance, research and development, exchange of information, and exchange of technology.
Parties are required to take appropriate legislative, regulatory, administrative, and financial measures to prepare for and mitigate industrial accidents. Parties must also ensure adequate public information dissemination in areas potentially affected by accidents.
