This inaugural State of Wildfires report systematically analyses fire activity worldwide, identifying extreme events from the March 2023–February 2024 fire season.

The report highlights Greece’s climate impact on on child well-being and the institutional framework. Findings reveal inadequate school preparedness, gaps in child-focused climate policies, and rising anxiety among youth due to climate change.

This survey reveals that Greeks feel more vulnerable to disasters than other EU citizens, are more eager for information, and take more proactive steps to prepare. They also rely more on informal sources for information and show less trust in authorities.

The report looks at wildfire prevention, preparedness, and response in Greece, and is the result of over six months of work on the side of Greek authorities, peer experts, and the Commission.
