11th International symposium on structural engineering

The ISSE11, the 11th International Symposium on Structural Engineering, scheduled on Dec. 18-20, 2010, is sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and is being organized by Guangzhou University, Shenzhen University and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

ISSEYE, the International Symposium on Structural Engineering for Young Experts, has been held regularly every 2 years in a major city in China since 1990. The previous ten events were successfully held in Leshan, Harbin, Shanghai, Beijing, Shenyang, Kunming, Tianjin, Xi’an, Fuzhou, and Changsha between 1990 and 2008. Due to developments over the two decades, this series of structural engineering symposiums possesses distinct characteristics and features, which continue to attract many young and middle aged elite academics from among Chinese people. In view of this, the title of this symposium has been changed to “The International Symposium on Structural Engineering (ISSE)”.

The objective of ISSE-11 is to provide a forum for experts from the research and practicing engineering communities, who work worldwide in the broad areas of structural engineering and construction, to present recent progress in research and development, to exchange information in the topics of structural analysis, design, construction, maintenance and hazard mitigation, and to discuss the implementation and development of new tools and technologies for professional application leading to safe and sustainable infrastructure. ISSE also aims to promote close international collaboration, cooperation, and mutual understanding.
