About
On November 13, 2024, the 1st International Workshop of the VERA Project: Assessing Vulnerable Elements and Risks - will take place in the form of a webinar.
The VERA project is co-funded by the European Commission under the European Civil Protection Mechanism and aims to enhance cross-border cooperation and coordination among civil protection agencies. The project primarily focuses on three hazards: wildfires, floods, and industrial accidents, including nuclear accidents.
As part of the project, a platform is being developed that focuses on mapping vulnerable elements, covering population density, and simulating the development of hazard events. This approach allows for the mapping of affected areas, providing critical information about potential damages and losses to exposed elements. This information helps to identify priority areas both in the planning phase and in response to the simulated hazard event.
In addition to presenting the project's developments, this event will explore the complementarity of the VERA platform with key projects, tools, and programs used at the European level within the field of civil protection – e.g., Copernicus, Galileo.
The event will be held in English.
