6th EU Loss Data Workshop
Implementation of guidance on sharing loss data among EU countries and coherence with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. The sixth meeting of the EU expert working group on disaster damage and loss data follows the previous meetings in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
The sixth meeting of the EU expert working group on disaster damage and loss data will focus on:
- Reviewing progress on implementation of the EU guidance on disaster loss data sharing
- Reviewing the guidance on recording disaster loss data in light of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction
- Beyond minimum requirements: quantifying indirect economic loss and exploring the state of the art of collecting loss data at local level
The workshop will gather around 30 experts from Member states, scientific organisations and international organisations. It follows on the success of previous meetings since 2013, ascertaining the commitment of the expert working group towards addressing the challenges set forward by the new Union Civil Protection Legislation and the recently adopted Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. It is expected that the achievements of the working group will feed directly in the Open-Ender Intergovernmental Working Group tasked with defining the indicators for the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
