7th Regional Consultative Committee meeting on disaster management
The ADPC Regional Consultative Committee on Disaster Management has been established since 2000. The Committee comprises members of the ADPC Board of Trustees/Advisory Council who are heads of national disaster management systems of countries of the Asian region. The role of the consultative committee is to provide an informal consultative mechanism for development of action strategies for disaster reduction in the region and promotion of cooperative programs on a regional and sub-regional basis; so as to guide ADPC's work.
The 7th RCC meeting will be held in Sri Lanka in may 2008. This upcoming meeting will have an special theme on rights based community led disaster risk management and will host a special session coorganized by UNISDR, on progress on implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action in Aisa. The meeting would also have sessions on lessons learnt from recent disaster, progress made on the implementation of the RCC program on mainstreaming disaster risk reduction into development.
