Background

ANDROID (Academic Network for Disaster Resilience to Optimise Educational Development) is an EU funded, Erasmus academic network that aims to promote co-operation and innovation among European Higher Education to increase society’s resilience to disasters of human and natural origin. UNISDR is a key partner of this network. The network’s teaching and research is based on interdisciplinary expertise on disaster issues and is concerned with what resilience is, what it means to society, and how societies might achieve greater resilience in the face of increasing threats from natural and human induced hazards.

Objective
The objective of the ODS is to transfer knowledge and develop the knowledge base of doctoral candidates. This is achieved through the conduct of series of domain expert presentations along with detailed discussion sessions aimed at engaging the participants in knowledge discovery through detailed discussion. A panel of experts in disaster management and resilience will lead the discussion.
