About

Learn about Anticipatory Action, develop skills to respond to and advocate for improved interventions around CCADRR.

This is an interactive online course on anticipatory action and an online Simulation Exercise. It is predominantly for participants of the RedR UK Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction programme.

RedR UK is offering an innovative, high-quality online training course aiming to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to be part of the anticipatory action paradigm. The training consists of two live webinars with pre-reading materials available a few days before the session(see time details on this page for the live session).

The first webinar will take place on 3rd September 2024 at 14:00 UK time and the second webinar, which will be delivered in the form of an online simulation exercise (SimEx) will take place on 5th September 2024 at 14:00 UK time.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe Anticipatory action approach as a combination of activities, pre-agreed decision-making rules and fast release of pre-arranged financing once the predicated hazard activates.
  • Promote Anticipatory action integration into disaster risk management depending on the local capacities.
  • Set perspectives of the Anticipatory action in the countries of concern.
  • Draft simplified Anticipatory action plans based on scientific evidence.
  • Advocate for inclusion of Anticipatory action into national legislation acts.
  • Understand the role of Early warning action within the Anticipatory action concept.

**Please note there are limited spaces on each module, and we will be operating a first-come, first-serve policy. If you are no longer able to attend please cancel your place on Eventbrite as soon as possible to allow another participant the opportunity to attend**

Who should attend?

This course is predominantly designed for participants who have been through the 6-week RedR UK Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction programme. However, places will also be given to participants in NGOs, humanitarian organizations, local and national government, or private sector, who are CCA and DRR practitioners. The course will be delivered in English.

HPASS badging

For this module, RedR UK is also offering HPass Badging. An HPass badge is a digital indicator of achievement, and a way for participants to demonstrate their skills and experience.
