Asia-Pacific water forum: Third meeting of steering group on water and climate change
Background
The Asia-Pacific Water Forum's (APWF) Steering Group on Water and Climate Change is tasked with making significant contributions in three Key Results Areas:
Advising and supporting leaders in the Asia Pacific region on policies and good practices for mitigation and adaptation of the impacts of climate change on water resources management and water services;
Guiding the APWF knowledge hubs in their work on water and climate change with their partners and clients, increasing synergies for advocacy, knowledge sharing, capacity development, and funding of initiatives; and
Reporting annually to the leaders in the Asia-Pacific region and the members of the APWF network on the region's progress in addressing the impacts of climate change on water resources, with recommendations for action.
The primary output of the Steering Group (SG) since its inaugural meeting (March 26 – March 27, 2010) is the Framework Document on Water and Climate Change Adaptation for Leaders and Policy-Makers in the Asia-Pacific Region. This document was presented to the Asia-Pacific Water Forum's 8th Governing Council Meeting in Singapore, 6 December 2010; and made available for public comment via the APWF's website. Incorporation of comments received is ongoing and completion is expected in July 2011.
The main focus of the Third APWF SG Meeting will be on (i) guidelines and (ii) the first annual status report.
