Awareness campaings and training on disaster risk reduction (DRR)

This year International Day for Disaster Reduction (IDDR) Day will be observed by the United Nations on Friday 12 October. It will focus on the role women and girls in the Disaster Risk Reduction under the theme “Women and Girls- the [In] Visible Force of Resilience”.

Rwanda Ministy of Disaster management and refugee Affairs (MIDIMAR) has organized a number of activities related DRR week among others trainings in different communities such as secondary schools, women associations. Besides, publicity spots have been organized on TV and radios about DRR week.

On the 12th October, the day will be celebrated in Rwamagana District of the eastern province and for the same day, community works will be organized including planting trees on steep slopes areas, rehabilitating houses of vulnerable families etc.
