Briefing on ecosystem and disaster risk reduction in the post-2015 global framework HFA2
The Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) is the global blueprint for informing DRR actions from 2005 to 2015. It aims to reduce the loss of lives as well as loss in social, economic and environmental assets of communities across the world. The negotiations for a post-2015 global framework on disaster risk reduction (HFA2) provide an opportunity to strengthen recognition of the critical role ecosystems play in reducing disaster risk and building resilience of communities. This briefing will share experiences from around the world where ecosystem-based solutions are applied to reduce disaster risk and will facilitate discussion on how ecosystem-based DRR could be incorporated in HFA2.
