Colloquium: danger, vulnerability and risk assessment to reduce disasters

The objective of the colloquium is to exchange experience on danger, vulnerability and risk assessment. There will be an emphasis on small island states and coastal ecosystems faced with the effects of climate change; tropical storms, other extreme events together with other threats such as receding coastlines. Out of the multiple topics, the following three topics have been chosen as focus of the debate: 1. Danger, vulnerability and risks when faced with extreme meteorological events: approaches, indicators, methodologies, and new technologies; 2. Risk management in small island states and coastal ecosystems: integration into planning and development of key production sectors; 3. Reducing the risk of disasters and adapting to climate change: policies, strategies, research and management.
