Develop your structural engineering skills to assess damage and make informed decisions on whether to repair or dismantle damaged buildings.
This training is also available on 26th February 2024.
Understand the need for damage assessments in eastern Libya and share knowledge on how buildings can be restored to pre-flooding conditions.
RedR UK is offering a free-of-charge, innovative, high-quality online training course aiming to provide technical responders of all disciplines in Libya with an understanding of the strategies and approaches for understanding how to stay effective in humanitarian response, including the importance of safety, security and wellbeing.
The facilitated module uses participatory methods and it is expected that learners will participate in discussions and activities in to to deepen their understanding of the concepts that are discussed. Module Aim
To understand the need for damage assessments in eastern Libya and share knowledge on how buildings can be restored to pre-flooding conditions.
Module Objectives
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the need for damage assessments in eastern Libya.
- Differentiate whether flooding produces local or global damage, also between minor and severe.
- Implement a standardised and cohesive method for assessing building damage, with a focus on evaluating structural performance and flood damage characteristics.
- Recognise and qualitatively evaluate typical structural defects encountered when inspecting flood-damaged buildings.
