Davos atmosphere and cryosphere assembly
The 2013 Davos atmosphere and cryosphere assembly (DACA-13) offers a platform to discuss the latest developments in atmospheric and cryospheric research. The overall theme “Air, Ice & Process Interactions” implies that it has been recognized that many of the key challenges concerning global environmental change lie at the interface of traditional disciplines. The atmosphere and the cryosphere are particularly important and vulnerable in this context. Attention will therefore be given to atmospheric and cryospheric processes with the aim to also emphasize the many interactions that exist between the atmosphere and the cryosphere.
The IACS and IAMAS communities and international experts working together with DACA-13's Scientific Program Committee have developed a cohesive and exciting program. It features 20 symposia, most of them containing several topical sessions, structured into four blocks. In addition to the symposia, central elements of the conference will include keynote presentations by four world-leading experts: Ronald B. Smith (Yale) Valérie Masson-Delmotte (LSCE Paris), Thomas Stocker (University of Bern) and Georg Kaser (University of Innsbruck), and extended poster sessions. Furthermore, a range of scientific excursions and trips will be offered to allow participants to enjoy the surrounding alpine environment.
