Both climate change itself and policy responses to climate changes will have an impact on international trade, and may require some clarification of, or possibly adjustment to multilateral trade rules.

With financial support provided by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the International Food & Agricultural Trade Policy Council (IPC) and the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) are convening this Geneva meeting of their joint platform on Climate Change, Agriculture and Trade: Promoting Policy Coherence, to examine the nexus between climate change, climate change policies and WTO rules applicable to food and agricultural trade.

The meeting will profile a number of papers prepared by the Platform and seek to identify key policy questions at the nexus of climate change and international agricultural trade rules that should be addressed by the international community upon the conclusion of a new international climate change framework.
