DRR overview course for mayors of Ghana

CADRI, UNDP Country Office and the National Disaster Management Agency of Ghana have organised a 1 day seminar for Metropolitan, Municipal, District Chief Executives in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and urban risk. Participants were introduced to the UNISDR campaign for "Safer Cities" and provided guidance on how to implement the 10 essentials for making their cities more resilient to natural hazards. The participating mayors identified essentials 1, 4, 7 and 10 as areas where Ghana has improved in the recent years. Essentials 2, 5, 8, 9 were identified as areas where more work needs to be done with the support of various UN agencies and other partners involved in DRR.
