Engagement of the Thailand private sector in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and resilience initiatives

The webinar is organized by the UN Global Compact Network Thailand, the United Nations in Thailand, and the United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction Asia Pacific Office, in collaboration with ARISE Philippines, specially invited to present its programs, initiatives, and best practices in disaster risk reduction and resilience among the private sectors in the Philippines. 

The 60 minutes webinar will consist of three presentations of 15 minutes each, accompanied by a period for questions; 

- An overview of the ARISE Philippines, its mission, core activities, strategies, and its role in promoting resilience and disaster risk reduction in the private sector in the Philippines, by Liza B. Silerio, Co-Chairperson of ARISE Philippines 

- Showcasing how ARISE Philippines undertakes activities to correlate broad DRR and resilience principles to specific industries, such as the insurance sector by VAdm. Alexander P. Pama, ARISE Global Board Member 

- Showcasing how private sector efforts lead to evidence-based risk governance at the local and community levels. This part will highlight successful examples of public-private-people partnerships and collaborative strategies that have effectively enhanced local resilience by Mr. Silvestre “Sly” Barrameda Jr., Executive Director of National Resilience Council.
