The course is aimed at equipping the participants with the necessary skills to intervene in the emergency situation, getting organised, developing and implementing intervention strategies, mitigating the disaster and finally phasing out once the disaster has passed is important to saving the lives of the affected.
Sudden onset disasters of human or natural origins can spell doom for affected populations. These events are usually life threatening and make the lives of the affected population unbearable. International agencies and people of good will often wonder where to start in responding to the disaster. The answer is Environmental Health, this encompasses water supply, sanitation and vector control all in an effort to minimise the onset and spread of diseases that inevitably will occur.
