About

This seminar will focus on efforts to reduce disaster risk through capacity building in Guatemala, a Central American country facing multiple hazards including earthquakes, volcano eruptions and hurricanes. We will hear from experts Ana Victoria Rodriguez and Sebastian Charchalac on their experiences and lessons learned from capacity building activities in adaptation and green recovery in the country, and more specifically in the Highlands region. They will provide an overview of the origins of two tools developed by WWF: the Flood Green Guide (FGG) and the Green Recovery and Reconstruction Toolkit (GRRT), which can be used as a resource for environmentally responsible disaster risk reduction, recovery and reconstruction. The seminar will include concrete examples of application of the GRRT, including the case of potato producers in the highlands of Guatemala. There will also be time for an interactive discussion with the audience.
