GCCA global policy event 2013

The second annual Global Climate Change Alliance event brings together over a hundred international development and climate change specialists to share their valuable experiences in tackling this critical issue.

Partner country climate change negotiators and experts will join lead development partners, European Union Member State representatives and European Commission staff for three days of discussion and dialogue in Brussels, where they will extract lessons learned from the GCCA’s experiences to date to inform the international climate change debate.

The 2013 global policy event aims to:

• Extract lessons learned through the GCCA experience to date on various topics of relevance to the current negotiation streams
• Based on experiences from GCCA across the world, promote dialogue and exchange between practitioners and negotiators involved in the UNFCCC and related processes, with a view to inform the  next conference of the parties

The event will explore topics which are of critical importance to both climate negotiators and practitioners:

• From NAPAs to NAMAs, NAPs, LEDS and DRR strategies1: the role of country-led climate and DRR mainstreaming
• Making climate finance effective: strengthening national public financial management and budgetary systems
• From forests to sustainable land management: creating synergies between adaptation and Reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+)
• Monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV): what are the implications for strengthening climate information and national monitoring systems?
