The regional policy dialogue's climate change and disaster risk management network is holding its II meeting on climate change in Antigua, Guatemala. The Dialogue will focus on discussing new strategic trends in combating climate change, such as 'green' mechanisms and financial institutions, programmatic bilateral aid programs, and the implementation of national climate change programs at the sub-regional and local level. The program includes a review of specific cases such as the sectorial requirements for adaptation in the water sector, the implementation challenges for mitigation in the forestry sector, and energy efficiency; highlighting practical experiences in the region. The meeting will include work sessions to explore the political guidelines of countries in the region in light of the 17th Conference of the member countries of the UNFCCC in Durban later this year.
