Intangible cultural heritage and social responsibility in the face of disasters

Natural Disasters Research Institute (NDRI), UNESCO Chair on Natural Disasters Management, Tehran ICH Center, the Iranian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, and Iranian Health Social Responsibility, will be held a specialized meeting entitled "Intangible Cultural Heritage and Social Responsibility in the Face of Disasters" with the presence of international speakers.

According to the public relations office of the NDRI, on the National Day of Social Organizations and Partnerships, a specialized meeting titled "Intangible Cultural Heritage and Social Responsibility in the Face of Disasters" will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2023.

Considering the importance of the role of intangible cultural heritage in the prevention of disasters, especially when facing disasters caused by climate change, a phenomenon that we are increasingly facing in today's world, and also considering the importance of the role and application of intangible cultural heritage in the prevention of disasters caused by human activities, which are the result of neglecting the intangible heritage of communities and nations, the aforementioned meeting will be held online and will examine the following topics in the fields of managing disasters and crises, intangible cultural heritage and the role of social responsibility:

  • Networking between organizations, groups, and related people in the face of disasters
  • Raising awareness and building capacity to safeguard intangible cultural heritage in natural disasters
  • The role of executive bodies, local communities, and their social responsibility in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage in disasters 

Participation in this meeting is free and open to the public, and participants will receive a certificate of attendance from the Natural Disasters Research Institute (NDRI), UNESCO Chair on Natural Disasters Management, Tehran ICH Center, the Iranian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, and Iranian Health Social Responsibility.
