International Day for Disaster Reduction - Canberra, Australia

Catherine Walker, Deputy Director General for Global Programs Division, will introduce 'Investing in a Safer Future: A Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) policy for the Australian aid program.' Professor Phil Cummins, Chief Scientist at Geoscience Australia will then speak on the hazards affecting our region and how Australian scientific expertise is building capacity to address this challenge in developing countries. The third speaker will be Nick Ireland from CARE Australia, who will discuss DRR at the community level and linkages with development.
