International PhD workshop: disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation - scientific concepts and strategies for disaster risk reduction in climate change context in the coastal areas in South and Southeast Asia

We invite qualified PhD candidates who work on dissertations related to planning, early warning, governance, socio-economic vulnerability and adaptation, which are linked to natural hazards and/or climate change in coastal regions, to apply for international PhD workshop. Most participants are expected to be PhD Candidates, coming from south and southeast Asia. We might as well invite a few practitioners who have strong interest in the topic. Applications are formless.

Objectives of the workshop:
-To foster scientific networking of young researchers in the region on the topic of disaster risk reduction and climate change
-To have scientific exchange and discussion on potentials of disaster risk reduction strategies for climate change context in the coastal regions in south and southeast Asia in light of linking disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation

Expected outputs:
-Compilation of discussion results and selected papers / posters from the participants in UNU-EHS publication series (SOURCE publication)
-Network among young researchers and the UNU

Other requirements:
Participants are expected to have an active participation through group discussions and will prepare a poster (form will be given) to be presented during the workshop

Sponsorship:
Travel costs and accommodation of the participants will be sponsored by DAAD. Due to limited number of participants for the workshop (max. 20 persons), selection process may be undertaken.
