International snow science workshop, Whistler 2008

Promoting avalanche awareness is an important consideration for companies that promote and rely on mountainous backcountry recreation in the winter. Advocating awareness of avalanche terrain, improving avalanche forecasting techniques, and providing effective lines of communication to the general public are the focus of this year’s conference. The 2008 International Snow Science Workshop encourages a true merger of theory and practice. In addition to the oral and poster presentations on research and finding projects, virtual field trips, storm reports, and slide shows of remarkable events will be presented.
