About

Riga History and Shipping Museum will host the opening of the Latvian translation of the guidebook "Museums and Disaster Risk Mitigation" by British museum specialist Henry McGhie and the master class "Readiness for peace" led by the author. The event on October 13 will be introduced by Henry McGee's lecture "Museums and Disaster Risk Reduction", which will reveal the main topics included in the guide.

The event will continue with the master class "Preparedness for Peace" led by Henry McGee, where the participants will be invited to learn the working principles of the memory institutions included in the manual in a practical lesson, planning and facing disasters. Working language – English. Membership is free.

The event takes place as part of the UNESCO Week 2022 organized by the Latvian National Commission for UNESCO, in cooperation with the British Council representative office in Latvia. Partners: Association of Museums of Latvia, Association of Librarians of Latvia, Curating Tomorrow, Latvian National Commission for UNESCO.
