What is it?
A one-day workshop on ICTs, climate change and development with a mixture of thematic presentations, group discussions and panel debate.

What's the objective of the workshop?
As evidence mounts about the increasing effects that climate change has at the global level, so does the need to better understand and respond to emerging development challenges associated with the shifting environment. Within vulnerable contexts, digital technologies provide a significant development potential. Alongside increasing awareness of the manifestations of climate change and the growing momentum of the debate, the role of ICTs is starting to emerge and to shed light on potentially innovative approaches to prepare for, respond to, and adapt to climate change impacts.

The objective of this workshop is to foster discussion about key ICT-and-climate-change topics, including the role of current and emerging digital technologies in adaptation, mitigation, disaster management and strategy formulation. Leading international researchers will share their findings with participants, and participants will contribute their ideas and concerns through group discussions, helping form the basis for a broader network of actors who can support or follow implementation of action plan priorities that emerge from the session.
