Venue
The OECD Conference Center
Date

The OECD has been working on the economics of climate change since the late 1980s. Thanks to this experience, the organization has developed a capacity to help countries to identify and implement cost-effective policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as to integrate adaptation to climate change into all relevant policy areas.

Objective

The purpose of the Conference is to bring together high level experts, government decision-makers and representatives from civil society to discuss how climate change mitigation and adaptation can best be tackled in an economically efficient manner, including by ensuring sufficient incentives for participation by all.

Background material

Analytical input to the Conference will include work by OECD both on the Economics of Climate Change Mitigation and on the Economics of Adaptation. The aim of the work is to build understanding of the elements of what might be needed for an internationally feasible, inclusive and cost-effective post-2012 architecture to mitigate climate change.
