Please join us for the second event in the CDKN/ ODI series Rethinking International Policy for Reducing Disaster Risk. This public event, ‘Rethinking disaster risk reduction: making better decisions on HFA2’, will examine the proliferation and variety of disaster risk assessments conducted over the last 10 years, and ask why they have not been very effective in informing development plans and other public and private sector decisions. Speakers will also share their views on what the HFA2 should include to improve the formulation, production and policy influence of risk assessments.

Speakers will be:

Allan Lavell, Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO)
Emily Wilkinson, Overseas Development Institute
Nicola Ranger, Department for International Development (DFID)
Maarten van Aalst, Red Cross / Red Crescent Climate Centre

The event will be held at ODI and will also be livestreamed.
