River basin and flood risk management
Floods which occurred in the territory of the Slovak Republic in May and June 2010 are rare in flood history in Slovakia. The same situation was in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and other European countries and, therefore, the knowledge and experience gained by foreign experts are the important part of the last year's conference. After last year's conference "Floods 2010: Causes, Development and Experience", the organizers believe that the tradition of serious, competent and focused approach to the problem, which concerns the whole society, will be opened.
Flood situations solution - their consequences, but especially preventive measures – this is a topic that particularly attracts professionals and the public. The international conference „River Basin and Flood Risk Management", which is prepared with participation of all relevant actors in Slovak water management, wants to contribute to topics:
• Extreme meteorological and hydrological phenomena - floods and drought
• Flood risk management plans, flood prevention, flood protection and rescue operations, removing the effects of floods
• Impact of water management structures on the creation of the environment and environmental protection
• Sustainable use of water courses
