Roundtable workshop: Cascading disasters - how disasters unfold

Upload your content
Format
In person
Venue
The Beckman Center, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm
Date

Disasters can unfold as a sequence or cascade of subevents. Understanding the interdependencies that connect one trigger to a cascade of subsequent events may hold the key to effective hazard mitigation, interventions, and recovery strategies.

Objectives for this workshop are to clarify and communicate: a working understanding of cascading disasters; the ways that people are impacted at various points as a cascade unfolds; and interventions or coping strategies that could be implemented to prepare for cascading disasters or mitigate their adverse impacts.

As in the tradition of previous Disasters Roundtable workshops, Cascading Disasters will bring together scientists, practitioners, and policy makers to discuss and understand the sources and consequences of and recovery and mitigation actions related to cascading disaster events as they unfold.
