Saritsa Foundation prepares school children and parents of Dharavi Slums
Dharavi slum is routinely known as “ the largest slum in Asia “ It forms a major part of those one billion peple who live in crowded slums in the world. It is analyzed by IFRC that about 50,000 can die as a result of an earthquake and 100 million can be affected by floods. Most affected people in these disasters are who live in slums. Dharavi makes its dwellers most vulnerable because they live in temporary hutments/dwellings, where as many as 18000 people crowd in to single acre (0.4 hectares ) There are about 57000 dwellings/homes crammed to-gether. It makes Dharavi highly prone to multiple disasters and impacts of climate change. Children in Dharavi are most vulnerable.
