Seventy-first session of the UNECE Committee on Housing and Land Management
The Committee on Housing and Land Management of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) will hold its Seventy-First Session in Geneva to review the implementation of its programme of work for 2010-2011, the work of the Committee's Bureau, and a report by the Housing and Urban Management Advisory Network (HUMAN).
The two-day event will discuss: country profiles on the housing sector; affordable, healthy and ecological housing; improvement of urban environmental performance; land registration and land markets; housing modernization and management; building and construction safety; and cross-sectoral activities, including ecological building, energy efficiency, land-used planning around high-risk industrial sites, and reporting.
Among other things, the Session is expected to consider the draft Action Plan for Energy-efficient Housing in the UNECE Region, a report on “Climate Neutral Cities,” plans for a seminar in November on land-use planning around hazardous industrial sites to held jointly with the secretariat of the UNECE Industrial Accidents Convention, and a proposal by the Committee Bureau to present a September 2011 ministerial meeting with a draft Framework Convention on Affordable, Healthy and Ecological Housing in the UNECE Region.
