About
The General Assembly has designated 13th October as the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) to promote a global culture of disaster risk reduction.
The 2022 edition of this international day will focus on “Target G” of the Sendai Framework and the objective is “substantially increase the availability of and access to multi-hazard early warning systems and disaster risk information and assessments to people by 2030”.
In commemorating the IDDRR 2022, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), Sri Lanka as the focal point for disaster risk management in the country is hosting a national commemoration programme on 13th October 2022 at hotel Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo, Sri Lanka from 08.00 to 14.00 hours [(IST) UTC +5:30] as a hybrid (i.e. virtual and with physical presence) event.
The programme content is enriched with talks by international and local guest speakers on different aspects relevant to the event's core theme “Early warning and early action for all: Leave no one behind”. The event will conclude after a brief interactive summing up discussion done by the invited panellists.
Together we could create greater awareness to save the lives of our people through multi-hazard, end to end and people centred early warning systems.
