Summer institute for advanced study of disaster and risk in beijing

For the second year, the Summer Institute for Advanced Study of Disaster and Risk will be held at the Beijing Normal University, Beijing, China, from 2-13 August, 2010.

The Summer Institute is designed primarily for junior faculty and young researchers, post-docs and advanced doctoral students, who have shown strong interest and a acquired specific experience in the hazard and risk area.

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required.

The summer institute seeks to establish a framework of intensive collaborative learning and mutual exchange through a combined activities of plenary lecture, focused working groups, as well as informal round-table discussions with invited guest speakers, disaster risk management decision makers and practitioners. Furthermore, cultural activities are arranged to further facilitate and enable participants to build connections and networks for future collaborative research.
