Sweden National Platform meeting and post-2015 consultation
The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) will hold a National Platform meeting including a National Post-2015 Consultation.
The deputy director of the MSB will welcome the guests and Helena Molin Valdes from UNISDR will moderate the Swedish National Post-2015 dialogue meeting.
Swedish HFA focal point Mette Lindahl Olsson will discuss the work undertaken by the Swedish National Platform. The first part of the meeting will focus on the national level but and the second part of the meeting will have a focus on the local level/cities. Lord Mayor from Gothenburg Municipality, Ms. Lena Malm, will talk about how the city works with disaster risk reduction and their participation in the Making Cities Resilient Campaign. Bengt Rydell of the Swedish National Platform (Swedish Geotechnical Institute) will present a major government commission about landslide stability in southwest Sweden where infrastructure development ( transportation) is planned.
The meeting brings together the agencies within the national platform, scientists and academics, NGO’s and cities in the Making Cities Resilient Campaign to discuss what is beneficial about the current HFA, what challenges they face, and what, therefore, needs to be included in a new or modified action plan/ set of principles for disaster risk reduction. The method to be used is dialogue posters. Each of 6 groups receive a poster with discussion questions with space for answers. Each group will write their answers in summary form on the poster. These posters and the points from the speeches will be the outcome of the meeting. It will be converted to digital form for use by the UNISDR.
