Third InterMET Asia 2016 International Exhibition and Conference
InterMET Asia brings together the global weather and climate industry and end user community with a senior audience from more than 30 countries under one roof. This is the third edition in the successful annual series, and is part of a cooperation framework of the World Bank, Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery, the World Meteorological Organsaition and the Organisers of InterMET Asia. This includes the InterMET Asia-GFDRR Hosted Delegate Programme which is funded by the GFDRR. The event is officially supported by National Environment Agency Singapore and the Association of Hydro-Meteorological Equipment Industry (HMEI). It is officially collocated with Asia Pacific Martime 2016 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre
The event provides a unique, impartial and open forum for public sector national meteorological and hydrological services, private sector meteorology technology and service providers, intergovernmental organisations, and academics and researchers to meet and discuss the issues and opportunities facing the global weather enterprise.
The event will feature an international conference tailored to needs of the meteorology community in Africa, Asia and the Pacific regions. Conference sessions will cover the following topics:
- Meteorology in Disaster Risk Reduction.
- Energy Meteorology, including applications in energy generation and energy conservation.
- Agro-meteorology (including applications in viticulture and aquaculture).
- Meteorology in the Built Environment.
- Meteorology and Health (including transmission of vector-borne diseases).
- Meteorology and the role of ICT and Big Data (the Internet of Things, Social Media, M2M communications, portable devices, smart sensors).
- Weather Risk Management
- Maritime meteorology
- Technical Sessions (presentations by meteorology technology companies with the focus on extreme weather early warning systems and capacity building).
Special World Bank - Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery sessions afternoon 17th and all day 18th March on integrated technology systems for improving the performance and sustainability of national meteorological services and building extreme weather early warning services.
The international exhibition will be held on 16-17th March with 50 major exhibitors from 15 countries showcasing the very latest latest technologies and climate services from the hydro-meteorological industry.
