About
CEMR/PLATFORMA together with UCLG and Making Cities Resilient 2030 initiative organise 2 training sessions dedicated to politicians in climate adaptation and mitigation. The sessions will include keynotes speech by scientists, presentations of case studies and discussions. The goal of this event is to exchange information among politicians so they can get inspired to develop their own climate strategies, plans and actions, with the view of various global action frameworks as well as European Union documents, including the Paris Agreement (including COP26 and COP27), the Sendai Framework, the New Urban Agenda, the EU Green Deal, and the EU Adaptation Strategy, among others. This training academy is inspired by the EU Urban Agenda, where CEMR led the action called “training academy for politicians” (within the Adaptation Partnership of this Agenda). The extensive experience gained after holding 6 academies between 2019 and 2020 has resulted in the production of a manual.
The Training academy will focus on climate change adaptation, the Green Deal and resilience. The topics for discussion will include gathering data, sharing best practices and brainstorming ideas for adaptation strategies. The aim of the training sessions is to provide politicians with information and practical tools to develop better adaptation strategies and to improve the existing ones to cope with the increasing challenges that climate change poses.
