Saritsa Foundation in partnership with National Association for the Blinds organizing 2 days workshops to provide equal opportunities to visually impaired men and women of National Association for Blind (NAB), Department of rehabilitation, Mahalaxmi Mumbai to develop resilience for disasters and impacts of climate change.

Saritsa Foundation has been providing equal opportunities to persons with disability to empower them by building capacity to minimize losses in disasters since past 14 years. 9950 persons with disability have been imparted Life Saving Education. It is a continuous initiative by Saritsa Foundation to strengthen the priority given by UNISDR as well as follow its ethos. It is shared, India has a population of about 10 million visually impaired men, women and girls. They are highly vulnerable in disasters and disruptions caused by impact of climate change. They have lack of societal recognitions and face discrimination towards recognizing the need to mainstream them in the process of capacity building to minimize loss of lives, sexual violence against them and extreme conditions of health and hygiene problem they face.

This need has been recognized by Saritsa Foundation to have a positive change to make visually impaired men, women and girls inclusive part of plans and policies for empowering them to cope with disasters. Saritsa Foundation unique distinction in India for empowering visually impaired men, women and girls. This pioneering approach in its mission to provide equal opportunities to visually impaired men, women and girls to build their capacity with needed sensitivity for past 14 years has helped about 2500 men, women and girls to develop their skills for prevention, mitigation and preparedness for many kinds of disasters.
