Young scientists’ conference on integrated research on disaster risk, future earth, and sustainability
The Young Scientists’ Conference on Integrated Research on Disaster risk, future earth, and sustainability offers a prestigious platform for selected young scientists from Taiwan and Southeast Asia to present their research findings to one another and to leading scientists in the field. It is intended to stimulate competition, encourage excellence, reward outstanding performance, and foster the development of personal and institutional networks. The conference is sponsored by IRDR International Center of Excellence – Taipei and is being organized by International START Secretariat. The conference will consist of invited keynote presentations by distinguished scientists as well as oral and/or poster presentations by the young scientists. Awards will be granted for the most outstanding contributions in both paper and poster categories.
Call for papers
Submissions of applications are invited from young scientists (age 35 years or less) from Taiwan and Southeast Asia on connected themes of IRDR, Future earth, and sustainability. Applications must include short curriculum vitae that include present position, highest degree held, and papers published in the last 5 years, presentation title and extended abstracts not exceeding 500 words.
Selection of participants will be based on the educational background, working experience, and scientific merits of the presentation abstracts. Successful applications will be notified by 31 August 2013. Additional information including details about the conference arrangements, venue and program will also be provided at that time to participants. Wherever possible, those having papers/posters accepted will have their full costs (including round-trip economy-class airfare, accommodation and daily subsistence while in Taipei) covered. All participants will have an opportunity to make a brief oral presentation. Individual participants are encouraged to publish their presented material in international journals.
