The Global Environment Facility Independent Evaluation Office (GEF IEO), the Climate-Eval community of practice and partners are pleased to announce the 2nd International Conference on Evaluating Climate Change and Development, scheduled for November 4-6, in Washington, DC. The conference will bring together evaluation professionals, academics, policymakers and other stakeholders from developed and developing countries with the purpose of fostering the exchange of ideas and methods to evaluate climate change and sustainable development.

This conference is a follow-up to the 1st international conference which was held in Alexandria, Egypt, in 2008. Over 200 attendees participated in that conference which resulted in creation of the Climate-Eval community of practice, and the publication of the authoritative book, ”Evaluating Climate Change and Development”, that was the first one focusing on the topic.

With a narrower and more refined scope, this year’s event features a smaller group of participants, bringing specialized experience and knowledge from around the world. Over 90 presentations are scheduled to be delivered under the conference streams: climate change adaptation, mitigation, and policy. These presentations are based on the abstracts selected from over 200 abstracts received and reviewed by the conference Steering Committee.

Information about the conference, including the complete agenda, can be found on the conference webpage.  A conference blog section is also located on the webpage, where blogs by presenters and others are displayed for discussion.
