  • The Australian Government and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction will postpone the 2020 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR), due to be held in Brisbane in June, given the impact and uncertainty surrounding the spread of COVID-19.

  • We apologise to delegates for any inconvenience caused by this decision. Options to reschedule this event at a more suitable time are currently being considered. Should you require any further information, please contact the 2020 APMCDRR Organising Committee at [email protected].

Will the APP-DRR go ahead in Bangkok in March 2020?

  • The Asia Pacific Partnership for Disaster Risk Reduction (APP-DRR) Forum scheduled for 31 March -1 April in Bangkok has been postponed.

  • This decision has been taken in light of the ongoing uncertainty related to the COVID-19 virus and associated travel restrictions. New arrangements for the APP-DRR will be communicated in due course.

  • To ensure an inclusive process on preparations for the APMCDRR, UNDRR and Australia will begin a series of virtual consultations with Member States, regional organisations, stakeholders and development partners.

  • These consultations are critical for shaping the outcomes of the APMCDRR including the Political Declaration and Asia-Pacific Action Plan 2020-2022.

  • UNDRR will be in contact to begin scheduling the consultations. Your engagement in these discussions will be greatly appreciated.
