Bio-rights is an incentive mechanism that provides small loans for livelihoods activities, in return for community engagement in ecosystem restoration. The approach combines different risk reduction measures and creates resilience at local and landscape levels. Based upon a pilot in Guatemala, the potential of the bio-rights mechanism, as well as problems and lessons learned will be shared.
