From August to October 2024, UNDRR organized three table-top exercises (TTX) in Mauritius, Madagascar and Seychelles

The factsheet shares insights on factors that are important for disaster risk reduction strategies in urban areas based on the example of Beau Bassin-Rose Hill in Mauritius.

Funded by UNDRR, the project aims to improve risk reduction and preparedness, institutionally and operationally, in four Indian Ocean Island states: Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Seychelles.

This strategy will target children and youth, local communities, and media across Indian Ocean islands with the ultimate aim of ensuring that the concept of disaster risk is taken into consideration at every level of society.

This project will assess the human resources, equipment, and protocols of the EW-EAS systems in Indian Ocean countries and make recommendations.

The United Nations Secretary-General’s Early Warnings for All initiative was launched in Mauritius in December 2023 during a two-day event with key stakeholders.
