The threat grows from rising water and sinking buildings. The Economist reports on the threat of climate change, rapid urbanization and the changes in zoning and planning that city governments must undertake to mitigate flood risk - even at a short-term cost to economic growth.

The report reference the recently released ADB report, 'Addressing climate change and migration in Asia and the Pacific', which asserts that all across Asia, megacities face similar problems. The report looks at the links between expected climate change and migration.
