"In the overall interest of raising global ambition, the developed countries should take the lead and scale up ambition not just in mitigation but also in adaptation, finance, technology transfer and capacity building," said a joint statement issued at the conclusion of the recent meeting of climate change ministers from Brazil, South Africa, India and China, also known as the BASIC countries, reports China Daily. The ministerial meeting took place a week before a climate change conference in Doha, Qatar.
