BC, Canada: Pursuing seismic safety before quake makes sense

In a letter addressed to the news agency Vancouver Sun, the authors, Salvano Briceno, Director of the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction Secretariat and Carlos E. Ventura, Director of the Earthquake Engineering Research Facility at the University of BC responded to correct previously published correspondence by the news agency on the subject of structural school safety.

'The UNISDR commends BC for beginning to address school seismic safety. We hope to be able to cite its leadership as we work to build a culture of prevention around the world' they stated.
